Why there's no consent banner
EU ePrivacy rules require consent before accessing data on your device, except when that storage is strictly necessary for the service you asked for. Everything Grad Država stores in your browser exists solely to make the game function (remembering your name, language, and current room) — none of it is used to track you across other sites or for advertising, so it falls under that exemption.
Local storage (localStorage / sessionStorage)
Technically these aren't cookies (they're not sent to the server automatically with every request), but they fall under the same "access to device" category, so we list them here for transparency:
| Key | Purpose |
|---|---|
gdr:player |
Your player id and name, so you don't retype it every visit. |
gdr:room |
The room code you're in, to reconnect after a dropped connection. |
gdr_lang |
Your chosen interface language (Croatian/English). |
gdr:kategorije |
Your own custom categories. |
gdr:bodovi |
Your default scoring for rooms you create. |
gdr_install_odbijeno |
Whether you dismissed the install prompt, so it doesn't reappear immediately. |
| in-progress answers (drafts) | Unfinished round answers, so you don't lose them if your connection drops. |
gdr:return (sessionStorage) |
A temporary flag to return you to Settings, not the homepage, after Google sign-in. |
| Supabase session (if signed in) | Keeps you signed in between visits — set by the sign-in library. |
Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights
The site uses Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to measure traffic and load speed. Both are cookieless and use no persistent identifier — they only measure aggregated, anonymized metrics (visit counts, country, device type, load speed) that can't be tied back to you personally or tracked across other sites. That's exactly why no consent banner is needed for them either, but we list them here for full transparency.
How to turn this off yourself
You can clear local storage at any time through your browser settings ("clear site data" or similar) — the game will keep working, it will just ask you to re-enter your name and language. The QR camera explicitly asks your browser's permission before each use and you can decline it; you can still join a room by typing its code.
Changes
If a new type of storage or a third party that sets cookies in the strict sense is ever added, this page will be updated and a consent banner will be added if needed.
